Molecular bioassay
– Molecular bioassay is a term to refer to tests that detect biological markers at the molecular level such as nucleic acids or microbial gene fragments.
– Molecular bioassay is a sequence of DNA synthesis reactions to amplify into many copies. Currently, there are two common techniques that are PCR synthesis technique and real-time PCR technique.
– PCR synthesis technique helps detect the existence of microorganisms or bacteria quickly through PCR reaction. Currently, PCR assay is a technique widely used in the medical sector, this method is used to diagnose some viral diseases that cannot be detected by traditional methods.
– Real-time PCR method: Developed and improved based on the PCR method, real-time PCR is a technique where the amplification results of the target DNA will be displayed after each cycle. The amplification results will be obtained through the fluorescence signals that are released after each thermal cycle. And the signals are detected and recorded in the form of a graph, the signal graph helps to evaluate and calculate the target DNA amplification product present in each cycle.
Molecular bioassay applied in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases
- Hepatitis B: Measure HBV viral load by real-time PCR, HBV genotype, and drug-resistant HBV by real-time PCR
- Hepatitis C: Measure HCV viral load, HCV genotype.
- Cervical cancer: screening test for HPV virus, HPV genotype
- Stomach cancer (HP); detect gonorrhea, syphilis;…
- Testing for Sars-CoV-2 by real-time PCR.
