Introduction

Microsporidian disease in shrimp is caused by the parasite Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP). EHP might not cause shrimp death, but it slows down the shrimp growth because EHP parasites in the hepatopancreatic duct system makes the shrimp unable to absorb nutrients. That is why even when EHP does not cause mass mortality, it still causes serious economic loss to farmers. Eliminating EHP  from the farming system is a difficult task at the moment. Early prevention and detection of EHP is the best solution to help minimize economic loss.
