Introduction
Foot Mouth Disease Virus (FMDV) is a common disease in animals and ungulates such as pigs, cows, horses, and buffaloes. The incubation period is short, about 2-8 days. FMDV spreads quickly and the infection rate is up to 100%. The disease is mainly transmitted through the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract. The virus enters the bloodstream and develops in the mucous membranes of the digestive and respiratory tract. Clinical manifestations begin to appear through the growth of acne in the toenails and mouth. Oral blisters after rupture reveal red lesions then turning gray. Mortality rates range from 5-10% in adult pigs and up to 50% in piglets.
TopSPEC® FMDV RT-qPCR KIT (SQV-105) is a test kit based on RT-PCR method that allows accurate quantification and rapid detection of foot-and-mouth disease on a variety of samples. The average time for detection is 2 hours. The kit combines a new generation Taq Polymerase technology and an optimized buffer system with enhanced substances to improve the efficiency and sensitivity of the reaction. In addition, during extraction or mixing, exogenous controls can be added to avoid false negatives and manipulation errors.
