Introduction
Listeria monocytogenes found in unsafe food sources is a cause of dangerous food poisoning. Listeria monocytogenes is a gram-positive, facultative anaerobic, motile bacterium that does not secrete exotoxins but has endotoxins that cause necrosis. They grow at 1oC – 45oC, preferably around 45oC and at pH: 6-8, that’s why they can survive for a long time in the environment, they are killed by pasteurization and cooking. Almost anyone can get Listeria, but pregnant women are at higher risk for serious consequences: miscarriage or stillbirth. Although there are many methods for early detection of Listeria monocytogenes in food, the real-time PCR method is still widely used with high sensitivity and accuracy.
TopSPEC® Listeria monocytogenes qPCR KIT (SQB-103) is a test kit designed based on the Real-time PCR method that allows accurate quantification and rapid detection of L. monocytogenes in food and feed samples after proliferation. The average time for detection is 2 hours. The kit combines a new generation Taq Polymerase technology and a optimized buffer system with enhanced substances to improve efficiency and sensitivity of the reaction. In addition, during extraction or mixing, exogenous controls can be added to avoid false negatives and manipulation errors.
