Introduction
MBV (Monodon Baculovirus) is the main agent of scurvy in black tiger shrimp. MBV virus has a double-stranded DNA genome structure, a rod-shaped body. MBV was first detected in 1980 in a herd of black tiger shrimp brought from Taiwan to a farm in Mexico with horizontal disease transmission. When shrimp are infected with MBV, manifestations in the early stages are often not obvious until symptoms worsen such as poor appetite, dark or dark green color, slow growth, atrophy of the hepatopancreas with yellowish-white color, and got rotten very fast with cumulative mortality as high as 70%. The disease has no specific treatment, so early prevention and detection play an important role in minimizing loss for shrimp farmers.
” TopSPEC® MBV qPCR KIT (SQS-142) is a test kit based on Real-time PCR method that allows fast and accurate detection of MBV agent in shrimp. The kit has the advantages of specificity, high sensitivity, endogenous control help ensure the extraction process or master mix.“
Advantages of the kit
