Introduction
Gastroenteritis and dysentery are caused by Shigella bacilli in food and drinking water. Shigella causes inflammation of the lining of the digestive tract leading to typical manifestations such as diarrhea, vomiting, fever, and body aches. In addition, the disease also leaves many complications such as dehydration, uremia, jaundice and electrolyte imbalance, lactose intolerance, hemolytic syndrome, and even death. Although there are many methods for early detection of Shigella in food, the real-time PCR method is still commonly used with high sensitivity and accuracy.
TopSPEC® Shigella qPCR KIT (SQB-106) is a test kit that allows fast and accurate detection of Shigella spp. by real-time PCR in 2 hours. The kit is used on food and feed samples after proliferation. The designed primer and probe sequences have 100% similarity with the Shigella sequences analyzed on bioinformatics software. The kit combines a new generation Taq Polymerase technology and a optimized buffer system with enhanced substances to improve efficiency and sensitivity of the reaction. In addition, during extraction or mixing, exogenous controls can be added to avoid false negatives and manipulation errors.
